On the 22nd of February, Besiktas Shipyard launched the 9000 cbm ethylene carrier. The operation has been successfully carried out with baloons. The ship is based on M.E.S. special design, to realize a twin screw/twin skeg arrangement, a particular hull form of the aft body, that enable an optimization of the speed/power ratio on a wider range of speeds rather than a traditional single screw vessel. In fact, among the others, the advantage is the possibility to operate the ship with only one main engine running, for an efficient slow steaming, meanwhile maintenance can be carried out on the other main engine or just to limit as much as possible the fuel consumption.
