Ethylene Carrier “King Arthur” – Delivery

Marine Engineering Services of Trieste is pleased and proud to announce that today has been successfully carried out the official delivery to the Italian Shipping Company Mediterranea di Navigazione S.p.A. of the Ethylene Carrier “King Arthur”, built in Bach Dang Shipyard of Vinashin Group (Socialist Republic of Vietnam).

This modern and highly sophisticated ship, having a cargo capacity of 4500 m3, has been designed by MES and built under MES on site supervision on behalf of the Shipowner. She is the prototype of a series of sister ships under construction at Bach Dang Shipyard premises (the second ship “Excalibur” for the same Shipowner was launched in November 2010); she is the first semi-pressurized fully-refrigerated ethylene/LPG carrier ever built in Vietnam.

This achievement marks a new paradigm in MES ability to manage complex projects in the developing countries by giving complete technical support to the Builders, thus continuing to guarantee the already established highest construction and performance standards to MES Clients, who are among the most demanding international Shipowers and Charterers.

This excellent result has been obtained thanks to the continuous support and cooperation MES have received from the Shipowner, Dott. Paolo Cagnoni, and from his Head Office and Local Staffs; our major appreciation and congratulations go to them all.

MES would also express gratitude and congratulations to Bach Dang Shipyard and the entire Vinashin Group for continuously working together with MES in setting a new quality benchmark in Vietnamese shipbuilding sector, a perfect base for the successful completion of the Ethylene Carriers project and a starting point for the other ongoing shared activities.

MES special thanks go to Maersk Broker for their great assistance on this project.

Last but not least, MES Head Office Staff expresses major appreciation to the colleagues of the MES Site Office for their ability and professional attitude which made possible the delivery of  “King Arthur”.
